Many years ago, my brother and I packed small boxes of clothes, etc. and strapped them on the back of our bikes. Every fall we’d get harvest jobs.
We got up really early and started out. When we got to Payton we were tired so we stopped at a cafe, had dinner, and rested.
Then on we went to a relative’s place and had supper. The cousins were going to a dance so we changed and went with them.
We had come 100 miles and when I now think of it and wonder how we could have been that young and able to do things like that – it makes me tired to just think about it.
