Springfield School, near Waldheim, Sask., in 1949 marching with their banner at Field Day. Several schools would compete in high jump, broad jump, and ball games at Field Days and each school hoped to have the most points at the end of the day.
The class photo below is of students at Carmen School in 1949. To help celebrate Waldheim’s Centennial last year (2012), the Waldheim Museum Committee, gathered memories and school pictures from students and teachers of the 12 one-room schools from the area surrounding Waldheim.
The schools were Brotherfield; Carmen; Carson; Danzig; Hoffnungsort; Parker; Rose River; Schmidtsburg; Silberfeld; Snowbird; Springfield; and Windom. – Photos from Iona Greene of Waldheim, Sask.
