Continuity

From our October 2012 Issue

By Doreen Denicola – Prince George, B.C.

This farm – our land, which has served us so well
Gives us not just hard work, but a safe place to dwell
A haven of rest from the storms of our lives
Where we gather new strength against trials that arise.

A place where our children could grow to be strong,
Knowing they helped with whatever came along.
Their love of the land is as great as our own –
It will always be part of them, wherever they roam.

Life holds many a change we know
Some may stay, but some may go,
We will always be thankful for the years that we had,
As we watched them develop, our hearts were glad.

The circle is widening – and so it should be –
Precious little twigs form on our family tree,
We walk these same fields, with our joy in the land –
But we take tiny steps now, and we hold a tiny hand …
