Cool Pocket Money

From our January 2013 issue

By Jacob M. Fehr – Swift Current, Sask.

Clear, cool, sunny February morning,
trodding wide,
bare saucer ditches, pickin bottles, makin dough.
Like pickin frozen cow chips, kick em gently. There’s one, just a sparkle in a hallow.
Opulence, bottles scattered near box, some broken, sure bad for cutting tires, 114 total.

Tired, hungry, sack sure gettin heavy.
Flush bottles, makeshift coat hanger hook. Fetch bugs, big bugs, grasshoppers and mice, soft, slippery, slimy mice.
Appetite going, going, gone. Hang in there, $9.80 not bad, not bad at all.
