Little Prairie Town

From our March 2014 issue

By Margaret McRobb Little – Vancouver, B.C.

The Great Depression was taking its toll
As the people grew weary and sad
They were always hoping for better days
But it was meant to be long and bad.

The long years of misery and lost hope
Oh, why? Oh, why did they stay
To stay and suffer year after year
Oh, why did they not move away?

Was it because of the wonderful blue of the sky,
With the clouds so fluffy and white?
Or was it the sight of a million stars
Winking and blinking at night?

Or was it because of the harvest moon
Lighting the whole of the town?
It could have been one of a number of things
Making Shaunavon a great little town.
