Marshall and I got married in 1942. We started faming in 1945 and had a pull-type combine pulled by a tractor. I would truck the grain to the granary to unload, but waiting in between while the 2-ton truck filled, I’d the tractor to watch the combine work.
We then got a self-propelled combine half-share with a neighbour, Henri Rabin. They took turns driving the combine, but I still got a ride every year.
When we retired and moved to town in 1973 I still went to the farm for my ride with my son, Maurice. When he retired I drove to my son-in-law, Roland Carles’, then the next year with my grandson, Carey Carles.
I’ve enjoyed having a ride every year for 67 years, and watching the new computerized combine.
