Lunch Today?

From our January 2014 issue

By Kay Bowen – Elk Point, Alta.

In this world there are people
On whom you can depend.
But there is one and only one
Who is your forever friend.

One you can tell your troubles to
While chatting over lunch.
To have someone to talk to
Always means so much.

One that you can call up
“Let’s have lunch today
After a delicious meal
Then we’ll take a hike.”

Down to the grocery store,
There is always food to buy.
Even tho’ the fridge is full
There’s room for that “mystery pie”.

After all this shopping
Now it’s time for tea.
Then it is homeward bound
To decide what supper will be.

Now our busy day is over
And there’s Scrabble games 1, 2 or 3.
This is an enjoyable day in the life
Of my friend, Nan, and me.
Today we could have done much more
But Gosh! We’re tired, we’re 84.
